The Queen's Gambit: Where Else You've Seen The Cast
- 24 November 2020
- Screen Rant
Easily one of the most talked-about new series of 2020, The Queen's Gambit garnered universal praise once it was released on Netflix in October, and even set a new streaming record for the most viewed limited series of all time on the platform. The drama miniseries tells the story of a young orphan named Beth who discovers she's a chess prodigy. Through her young life, she pursues her dream, rather obsession, of becoming a grandmaster.
While the story, which is set in the '50s, almost seems real, it is actually a work of fiction, based on the 1983 Walter Tevis novel of the same name.

Deadpool Director Says His Kitty Pryde Movie Will Never Happen
Right before the Disney takeover happened, Fox were busy creating a host of new X-Men spinoffs. Among them was a solo movie for Kitty Pryde which was to be helmed by Deadpool director Tim Miller. Of course, now that the rights to mutantkind are resting with Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige is expected to wipe the slate clean and come up with his own projects that will fit into the McU. But is there a chance that Miller could make his Kitty Pryde film for Marvel?
Well, no, to put it plainly. Miller spoke to ComicBook.com about his love of the X-Men franchise and his enthusiasm for what he was going to do with Kitty. And it turns out the filmmaker is under no illusion that it'll actually happen now.
"I love the X-Men. I don't expect Marvel to call me and say, 'Come do the X-Men,' so

- MovieWeb
Neill Blomkamp is finally getting back behind the camera for a new feature and this time, he's making a horror movie. The District 9 filmmaker has lined up his next project, which is titled Inferno and has Taylor Kitsch attached to star. Production is expected to get underway in early 2020.
According to a new report, Agc Studios has stepped in to back Inferno. It was revealed by Neill Blomkamp back in August that he was no longer set to direct RoboCop Returns, the planned sequel to Paul Verhoeven's 1987 sci-fi classic. Instead, Blomkamp said he was moving onto a horror movie. Though, at the time, no details were revealed. Blomkamp had this to say about the project in a statement.
"I am very excited to be getting behind the camera and making Inferno with Agc. The film is filled with themes and concepts that I find deeply fascinating, I feel lucky to be shooting it.
Marvel Fans Can't Stop Campaigning To Get Keanu Reeves In The McU
- 22 June 2019
- We Got This Covered
Thanks in part to the recent success of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum – not to mention the new Toy Story 4 – Keanu Reeves is currently one of the internet's favorite, most meme-able film stars. So when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told ComicBook.com earlier this month that he and his team have approached the actor for almost every movie they make, it was all too predictable that the fancasts would come flooding in.
Over on Twitter, for instance, we've seen a vast array of suggestions that range from Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four to Namor to Adam Warlock. Apparently, there's an abundance of ways in which Marvel Studios could make use of the Matrix star, but until an actual casting decision is confirmed, fans can still get a kick out of imagining what might be.

Director Gore Verbinski Exits 'Gambit'
- 12 January 2018
- Age of the Nerd
The road to the 'Gambit' solo film just got a little longer, as Gore Verbinski (A Cure for Wellness) has become the latest director to leave the film. THR is reporting that the long-gestating project is now in search for a new director. Back in 2015, we discussed who we thought should play Gambit in his solo film, but shortly thereafter, Channing Tatum closed a deal to produce and star as the titular character. Shortly thereafter, director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) joined the project, but left soon thereafter due to "creative differences", as the studio and director had different visions for the film.
Next, Doug Lyman jumped aboard the project in August 2016, but was unable to find "a personal connection to the story" while developing the film. The film then was re-conceptualized after having massive success with R-rated superhero properties in both 'Deadpool' and 'Logan'. Verbinski

Channing Tatum's Gambit Movie Loses Director Gore Verbinski
- 11 January 2018
- MovieWeb
The long-gestating Gambit movie has just hit another huge snag. Director Gore Verbinski, best known for his work on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, has exited the project. Not much is known about the details of his departure at this time, but "scheduling issues" were cited and it's said to be amicable. Even if that's true, and considering how close this movie is to production, this represents a major problem for Fox, while nobody has said this is happening yet, it's possible the movie could be delayed, depending on how this all shakes out.
Channing Tatum, who has been attached to star in Gambit for several years and has been producing it as a passion project, is still on board. Now it's just a matter of finding a new director. The fact that this is the third director to exit the X-Men spin-off is a bit troubling at this point.

…and another one bites the dust. If it wasn't already, "Gambit" is becoming something of a joke on the 20th Century Fox lot. In the works for years, the film has already been through two directors (Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman), a missed release date in 2016, and had at least one overhaul of the script (thanks to the R-rated success of "Deadpool" and "Logan").

The Gambit solo movie has come back from the dead more times than Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers combined. Though Channing Tatum has remained a constant, the film has cycled through pretty much every available director in Hollywood, coming close to full production on multiple occasions before creative clashes and scheduling conflicts sent the studio back to the drawing board.
But things have been looking promising as of late. Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski signed on to helm and a release date of February 14th, 2019 was announced. With things gearing up to head into production shortly, it seemed like the project was finally – finally! – about to get off the ground. That is, until Gambit hit yet another roadblock today, with Deadline reporting that Verbinski has now dropped out, leading us to believe that this spinoff is indeed cursed.
As usual, the reason for the director's departure apparently comes down to scheduling issues,

Release dates for 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and Gambit get switched around. The Walt Disney Company recently began the process of acquiring 20th Century Fox and various other movie and TV assets from the studio's parent company, 21st Century Fox, for over $52 billion. But the deal may not go through for another 18 months, and incorporating the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe may take even longer. The long-awaited Gambit solo movie has once again hit a snag on the way to production, this time losing director Gore Verbinski. The Ragin' Cajun has always been a popular character within the X-Men universe, but has struggled for years to try and star in his own film. Despite being a regular fixture in animated versions of the X-Men, Gambit has to date only appeared in one feature, that being the poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

A few months ago, we learned that Gambit is slated for a February 14, 2019 release, and according to Omega Underground, filming will begin March 19, 2018 in New Orleans at Big Easy Studios. This is the same studio where Logan and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes were shot.
Gambit is my favorite character from X-Men. He's funny, has awesome powers and skills, and seems like he knows when to be serious. This is especially perfect for me since Rogue is my wife's favorite character. Unfortunately, Gambit hasn't had the best portrayal on the silver screen. That's right, I used the singular version because for whatever reason he has only been in one of the X-Men movies, and it's one of the most hated ones: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Imagine my excitement though when I heard Gambit would get his own movie. I was ecstatic! Then I found

20th Century Fox and Deadpool director are developing a Kitty Pryde movie in the studio's X-Men universe.
Whatever may or may not happen when the Disney-Fox deal concludes its long regulatory review process, it appears to matter little to the development side of 20th Century Fox, which seems to be proceeding with business as usual, including in the development of yet another X-Men spinoff, this one starring Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcat. Further, in news that should intrigue fans, the project - which would still be in its early stages - has Deadpool's Tim Miller attached as a potential director.
Indeed, the news comes via Collider, which reports that Miller has been developing a Kitty Pryde movie at Fox for some time as producer, and is leaving the door open to also direct the film. This might come as a surprise to some fans who are
